Jakarta,- PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN) supports the government's efforts to achieve Net Zero Emission by 2060. One of them is by further exploring the utilization of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology.
Through this technology, BYAN hopes to contribute greatly in reducing carbon emissions.
"As a coal company, we support the government. In reducing emissions, we continue to explore with CCS," said Bayan Resources Director, Alexander Ery Wibowo at the CNBC Indonesia Economic Outlook 2024 event at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Pacific Place, Jakarta, Thursday (29/2/2024).
According to Alexander, the utilization of CCS technology is very large in reducing carbon emissions. For example, in Korea.
He said, Korea as one of the coal-using countries managed to reduce carbon emissions through CCS technology. Through this technology, Korea has successfully mitigated global warming by reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
Nevertheless, he also did not deny that coal is still needed. Even in the next 5 years, energy needs are vital.
Countries such as India, to Bangladesh are also very dependent on this cheap energy source.
"We see that the export market is still high, Bangladesh, India, still need cheap energy sources," he explained.
