Adaro (ADRO) Records 22% of Coal Exports to Southeast Asia


Jakarta,- PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk (ADRO), an affiliated company of conglomerate Garibaldi Thohir, recorded the largest coal sales in 2023 to Southeast Asia.

Coal production by Adaro Energy Indonesia and its subsidiaries (Adaro Group) will reach 65.88 million tons in 2023.


The figure represents a 5% increase, exceeding the previously set production target range of 62 million to 64 million tons.


ADRO Head of Corporate Communication Febriati Nadira said the company has diversified its export destinations.


Based on the 2023 fiscal year, Adaro's largest coal export destinations are countries in the Southeast Asia region. Meanwhile, China's exports are below it.


"In FY2023, the largest sales of the Adaro Group are Indonesia at 25%, Southeast Asia at 22%, China at 21%, Northeast Asia at 20%, and India at 12%," Febriati told Bisnis, Friday (3/15/2024).


Febriati said that her team continues to strive to develop and increase its contribution to the non-thermal coal sector. In addition, it also continues to play an active role in domestic mineral and renewable energy projects.


Meanwhile, Adaro is targeting coal production of 65 million to 67 million tons throughout 2024, or 1.7% higher than the total production in 2023.  


"The coal includes 61 million tons to 62 million tons of thermal coal and 4.9 million tons to 5.4 million tons of metallurgical coal from PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk (ADMR)," Febriati said.
