Jakarta,- The South Sumatra (Sumsel) Provincial Government is targeting coal production in the region to reach 146.7 million tons in 2025.
"This year, South Sumatra's coal production is targeted to increase by 146.7 million tons. The figure is based on data submitted by each mine approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," said Head of the Engineering and Mineral and Coal Receipt Division of the South Sumatra Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Service, Armaya Sentani Pasek in Palembang, Tuesday.
He explained that the target was 16 million tons higher compared to 2024, which reached 131.28 million tons with a realization of 113.5 million tons.
"Production in 2022 was 90.12 million tons, then in 2023 it reached 105.85 million tons and in 2024 it rose again to 113.5 million tons," he explained. Armaya said that the realization of coal production in the first quarter of 2025 reached 17.12 million tons. Meanwhile, coal production in the first quarter of 2024 reached 19.82 million tons.
"Temporary data on South Sumatra's coal production throughout January-March was 17.12 million tons. But the data has not been fully entered, so it cannot be said to have decreased," he said.
