15 Oil and Gas Projects This Year, 41,000 Barrels of Additional Oil


Jakarta, The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) noted that there are 15 upstream oil and gas projects that will be onstream or operational in 2024. The 15 projects are expected to boost the increase in oil and gas lifting production this year.

Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto explained, if these 15 projects can operate this year, it is expected to increase oil production capacity by 41,922 thousand barrels per day (bpd), and additional gas by 324 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

"In 2024, there will be 15 projects for onstream, expected to produce 41 thousand bpd and 324 MMSCFD with an investment of US$ 560.1 million," Dwi said in a press conference, quoted on Monday (15/01/2024).

The 15 projects are as follows:

Three projects owned by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), namely Peciko 8B with a gas production capacity of 16 MMSCFD, Bekapai Artificial Lift with a capacity of 12 MMSCFD and SWPG Debottlenecking with a capacity of 8 MMSCFD. The three projects are expected to be operational by March 2024.

Next is the construction of CO2 and DHU of Karang Baru Field with a capacity of 5 MMSCFD by Pertamina EP which will operate in April 2024, then the ASDJ-116X Flowline project with a capacity of 94 bph owned by PHE Ogan Komering and is targeted to operate in April 2024. The Akatara Gas Plant project with a capacity of 25 MMSCFD owned by Jadestone Energy which will flow in April 2024.

Furthermore, the South Sembakung Compressor Facility project with a capacity of 22.5 MMSCFD by JOB PMEP Simenggaris with an operating target of May 2024, the OPL E-Main Project with a capacity of 128 bph by PHE ONWJ which operates in June 2024, the Duyung Facility Optimization Project with a capacity of 40 MMSCFD with the operator Medco Grissik, targeting July 2024.

Then, the West Belut project with a capacity of 50 MMSCFD by Medco Natuna with an operating target of August 2024, the SP Puspa Asri Project with a capacity of 600 bph by Pertamina EP which will operate in October 2024, and the Merbau Compressor Project with a capacity of 8 MMSCFD with a target of operating in November 2024.

Then there are 3 projects, namely the Bronang Forel project, Banyu Urip Clastic Infill and Premier Oil AFCP, included in the Upstream Oil and Gas Strategic Project classification.

Meanwhile, throughout 2023, SKK Migas noted that there were six upstream oil and gas projects that had operated. The six projects consist of Premier Oil's GBFCP Project which operated on July 6, 2023 with a capacity of 117 MMSCFD, Medco Grissik's LTRO 1B Project with a capacity of 52 MMSCFD which flowed on July 28, 2023.

Next, the YY project (Continued/carried over 2022) owned by PHE ONWJ with a capacity of 2,000 bph and 1 MMSCFD which operates on August 9, 2023, the MAC Project which is a carried over 2022 owned by HCML with a capacity of 55 MMSCFD which flows on September 5, 2023.

Then, two other projects namely SP Jatiasri owned by Pertamina EP with a capacity of 2,900 bph and 16 MMSCFD which operated on September 13, 2023 and OPL Bronang Gas Project by Medco Natuna with a production of 65 MMSCFD which operated on September 13, 2023.
