Sluggish Oil Prices, Oil and Gas PNBP Plummets to Rp17.8 Trillion as of March 15, 2024

Jakarta,- The realization of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors until mid-March 2024 has fallen in line with the downward trend in commodity prices.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the realization of state revenue from the oil and gas natural resources sector reached Rp17.8 trillion as of March 15, 2024. This amount decreased by 20.1% compared to the same period last year of IDR 22.3 trillion.

The contraction in PNBP realization was due to the moderating trend of the Indonesian crude price (ICP) which was influenced by an increase in crude oil supply from the United States and changes in oil demand in the first quarter of 2024.

"In addition to the decline in ICP prices, the lifting also fell so that our revenue then decreased by 20.1% to only Rp17.8 trillion," Sri Mulyani said in the APBN Kita press conference, Monday (25/3/2024).

The Ministry of Finance noted that the realization of the Indonesian crude oil price as of January 2024 was at the level of US$77.12 per barrel eop / ytd. This figure is below the 2024 State Budget assumption pegged at US$82 per barrel.

Meanwhile, oil lifting as of February 2024 was recorded at 575,600 barrels per day (bpd), still below the 2024 State Budget target of 635,000 bpd.

Then, natural gas lifting was recorded at 906,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day (bsmph). This realization is still below the target set at 1.033 million bsmph.

On the other hand, the realization of PNBP from the non-oil and gas natural resources sector also contracted quite deeply. Sri Mulyani reported that state revenue from the non-oil and gas natural resources sector reached IDR 22.4 trillion as of March 15, 2024.

This realization fell 38.7% compared to the same period the previous year of IDR 36.6 trillion. He said the decline was influenced by the moderation of coal prices.

"Non-oil and gas natural resources have also decreased due to the price of coal and the volume of coal production has also decreased. We see that the decline was quite sharp at 38.7%, which was only Rp22.4 trillion," Sri Mulyani said.
