Jakarta,- The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set the Reference Coal Price (HBA) for the August 2024 period. The average HBA for several calories has decreased.

This is as stated in the Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) of ESDM No. 195.K / MB.01 / MEM.B / 2024 concerning Reference Metal Mineral Prices and Reference Coal Prices for August 2024. The regulation was also issued by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif on Monday (12/8/2024).

In the regulation, the government at least separates the HBA based on 4 categories. Meanwhile, each category of HBA in August 2024 has decreased compared to July 2024. The following is a list of HBA for the August 2024 period, quoted on Wednesday (14/8/2024).

First, for HBA with calorie equivalence of 6,322 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 12.26%, sulphur 0.66%, and ash 7.94% in August 2024, namely US$ 115.29 per tonne. This figure has decreased compared to the HBA in July 2024 which was set at US$ 130.44 per tonne.

Secondly, for HBA I with an equivalent calorific value of 5,300 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture of 21.32%, sulphur of 0.75%, and ash of 6.04% for August 2024, it was set at US$ 86.20 per tonne. This figure decreased when compared to the July 2024 price of US$ 91.85 per tonne.

Third, for HBA II with an equivalent calorific value of 4,100 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture of 35.73%, sulphur of 0.23%, and ash of 3.9% for the August 2024 period, it is US$ 54.63 per tonne. This figure has decreased compared to the HBA in July 2024 which was at the level of US$ 56.09 per tonne.

Fourth, the HBA III with an equivalent calorific value of 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture of 44.30%, sulphur of 0.24%, and ash of 3.88% for the August 2024 period was set at US$ 35.62 per tonne. This figure decreased compared to July 2024 which was at US$ 36.22 per tonne.
